The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Disaster Assessment and Recovery Unit in Houston, TX is seeking applications for a paid Student Intern position for the spring 2026 semester, January – June, working 20 hours per week. The intern is expected to work in person at our office in the Clear Lake Houston area (near Johnson Space Center).
 
This position will support green infrastructure planning and education efforts along the Texas Coast. Responsibilities include creating a comprehensive photo library, preparing outreach materials (web, print, and social media), supporting meetings, report development, and trainings (both virtual and in person), as well as administrative tasks to assist Green Infrastructure for Texas (GIFT) program staff.
 
Duties may also include driving a university vehicle and lifting up to 40 lbs. Cross training on related projects, such as stormwater wetland creation, and rain garden management may occur within the GIFT program.
The Intern applicant must be a self-starter with a positive attitude and able to work independently as well as collaboratively in the office as part of the GIFT team. Applicants must be enrolled in a college or university with a degree plan in environmental science, planning, landscape architecture, engineering, biology, natural resource science, or comparable field of study. Previous work experience is preferred, and knowledge of green infrastructure practices is recommended. Public speaking is required as well as writing and editing skills. A clean driving record is required.
