Environmental Engineer
Hydrex Environmental is seeking an experienced, motivated, versatile Civil/Environmental/Solid Waste Engineer to support our established environmental engineering practice and solid waste landfill projects. This position is a full-time, on-site and/or remote role within our multidisciplinary environmental consulting group. The ideal candidate will be capable of delivering varied civil and environmental projects focused on solid waste landfill facilities, environmental permitting, and compliance throughout Texas and neighboring states. The ability to integrate and collaborate within the environmental and engineering departments, across departments, and across technical fields is a key to success at Hydrex Environmental.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Environmental Engineer will play a front-line role in company growth through maintenance of existing client relationships, management of existing projects, and development of new clients and projects within the environmental discipline. Primary roles for the engineering position are provided below:
Solid Waste
- Municipal solid waste (MSW) facility planning, design, and permitting
- Containment liner and cover systems design
- Leachate collection and transfer system design
- Landfill gas collection and control system (GCCS) design, operations, and maintenance
- GCCS emission modeling and inventory reporting
- Surface Emissions Monitoring (SEM) evaluations and compliance
- Landfill gas compliance reporting and exceedance investigations
Environmental and Industrial
- Geotechnical investigation planning and reporting
- Spill and pollution prevention (SPCC & P2) plan preparation
- SARA Tier II and Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) reporting
- Design and implementation related to site remediation
- Project plans and specifications preparation, and construction quality assurance (CQA)
- Stormwater Pollution and Prevention compliance design
- Waste Evaluations, Environmental Audit, and process environmental compliance
- Remedial project planning and design
Qualifications and Professional Development:
- BS/MS in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related program from an accredited university
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 12 months
- Minimum four years related experience in MSW landfill engineering
- Experience with federal and state regulations as they apply to MSW landfills and GCCS
- Familiarity with Land Surveying and surface hydrology
- Available for travel and field work
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Strong project management skills including development and maintenance of project budgets
- Flexibility to work on multiple projects while balancing workload and project needs

- Ability to present information and respond to managers, clients, and customers
- Provide leadership through example and sharing of knowledge/skill
